Workspace
Create a clean, well-lit, and spacious area to open the tube. Ensure there are no sharp objects nearby that could damage the artwork.
Opening Tube
Use a sharp knife or scissors to carefully remove the tape or closures of the tube. Avoid cutting too deep to prevent damaging the artwork.
Unpacking
Wear cotton gloves should you happen to have them when handling the artwork to avoid fingerprints and greasy residue. This is especially important for delicate paper-based artwork. Should you not have these, make sure your hands are clean and grease-free so they cannot stain.
Use a soft, clean surface to place the artwork on while removing it from the tube. A clean piece of cotton works well to protect the artwork.
Carefully remove the artwork from the tube by holding it at the sides. Do not pull on any protruding parts, such as fragile edges or corners.
Hanging
If you intend to hang the artwork, use appropriate hanging materials capable of supporting its weight. Ensure that hooks or brackets are securely attached to the wall.
Hang the artwork in a location protected from direct sunlight, humidity, and temperature fluctuations. Also, avoid places where the artwork may be exposed to harmful substances such as smoke or fumes.
The standard size I use for the artpint is A1, which is 84cm x 59.4 unless otherwise specified.
